How our tennis socks help prevent blisters
A blister can end a good match early. Or worse, it turns the next three sessions into a fight with your own feet.
The good news: blisters are not bad luck. They have clear causes, and the right sock deals with most of them before they start.
What causes blisters in tennis?
Tennis blisters form when skin rubs repeatedly against the sock or shoe, usually where the foot pushes hardest: the toes, the ball of the foot and the heel. Sweat softens the skin and makes it more vulnerable, and any movement of the foot inside the shoe multiplies the friction.
Tennis adds its own twists: sprints to the net, lateral recovery steps, hard stops at the baseline and, on clay, sliding. Each of those moves pushes your foot against the inside of the shoe.
Where tennis players get blisters most
- Toes. Sudden stops drive the foot forward into the toe box.
- Ball of the foot. Push-offs and pivots concentrate pressure and friction here.
- Heel. If the heel lifts inside the shoe, it rubs with every step.
- Sides of the foot. Lateral movement presses the foot against the shoe's upper.
How Active Rock tennis socks tackle each cause
No sock can promise zero blisters. What a sock can do is remove the conditions that create them. Here is how our tennis socks are built to do that.
| Cause | What the sock does |
|---|---|
| Seams rubbing on the toes | Seamless toe construction: nothing bulky where your foot pushes forward |
| Foot sliding inside the shoe | Active Arc compression on the arch and metatarsus, plus a grip design that prevents micro-slips |
| Loose fabric folding and bunching | Anatomical left and right shaping for a close, second-skin fit |
| Sweat softening the skin | 80% bamboo fibre, naturally breathable to help manage moisture and odour |
| Pressure on hard landings and stops | High-density cushioning under the heel and forefoot |
| Rubbing at the heel and Achilles | Reinforced bands and an extended cuff on crew styles |

Which Active Rock tennis sock should you choose?
All three share the same anti-blister construction. The difference is weight, ventilation and height.
- Tennis Crew: our all-season sock, with targeted cushioning, Active Arc support and crew-height protection for the ankle and Achilles.
- Tennis Crew Lite: the same crew height with a lighter feel and extra ventilation, made for hot summer matches.
- Tennis Low Cut Lite: lightweight and low-profile for summer, for players who prefer minimal coverage.
Torn between heights? Here is how sock height changes the way your foot locks into the shoe.
Four habits that keep blisters away
- Check your shoe fit. Your heel should stay locked when you push off. If it lifts, the best sock in the world will still rub.
- Get the sock size right. Too big folds, too small pulls. Both create friction.
- Change socks on long days. Between matches, a dry pair resets the skin.
- Break in new shoes gradually. Start with shorter sessions before a full match.
Play the point, not the pain
Blisters come from friction, moisture and movement. Active Rock tennis socks are built to tackle all three, so your attention stays on the ball. Find your pair of Tennis Crew.
